The purpose of this feature is to provide the user with a basic VIN decoder to display Year, Make, Model, Submodel, etc. by a valid VIN number.
Some manufacturers support their own Vehicle Specification lookup by VIN.
For example BRP, Kawasaki and Polaris.
If the unit belongs to a ‘mapped’ vendor (BRP, Kawasaki, Polaris), the system will query the respective vendor through API by VIN value:
For Other Vendors, the system will perform a Generic VIN lookup which is managed by a Third Party Vendor. This information can also be found online. This includes Honda, HDC, etc. The unit specification detail level will vary depending on the manufacturer.
When looking up a VIN, if you receive the following Application Message :
This means either the VIN is incorrect OR the VIN is not recognized by the vendor.
This is NOT a DealerVu issue. The information we are able to provide you with this tool is given to us by the Vendor API or if Generic, by the 3rd Party Vendor.
