Accounting A/R Lab 3
Objective(s)
At the end of this lab, you will be able to create an A/R Invoice for a vendor and receive the payment from this vendor.
Before you begin
You will need to be logged onto DealerVu and be on the home page of DealerVu.
Exercise 1
In this exercise, you will learn how to create a new A/R Vendor’s Invoice.
- From the DealerVu home page, select the Accounting link;
- From Accounting, select the Accounts receivable link;
- In the Receivable Transactions screen, click on the A/R Vendor Invoice icon;
- In the Select Vendor window, enter the name of the vendor and click Refresh. Note: Make sure there is a check mark in the box representing the type of vendor you are searching for;
- Select the vendor by double clicking on it. This will add the vendor to the Vendor’s Invoice;
- Enter an invoice number and select an Invoice date, Due Date and Posted On date;
- Click on the Insert Misc. Item icon;
- Enter a Description, an amount (before tax) and choose the appropriate account for this item;
- Select a tax group using the drop down menu in that field;
- Change the Status from Open to Posted;
- Click on the Save icon.
Exercise 2
In this exercise, you will learn how to receive payment on the A/R Vendor Invoice created in Exercise 1.
- From the DealerVu home page, select the Accounting link;
- From Accounting, select the Accounts receivable link;
- On the Receivable Transactions screen, click on the Invoice Payment icon;
- Click on the Add Invoice icon;
- In the Select Invoices window, enter invoice number you created in Exercise 1. Click Refresh;
- Select the invoice by putting a check mark in the box to the left of the vendor’s name and then click OK. This will bring you back to the Receivable Payment Details screen;
- Select the Payment method, enter the cheque number (if paid by cheque) in the Check/Reference # field and select the cash drawer the money was deposited into;
- Select your payment posting date in the Date field;
- Click the Post icon.
