Accounting A/P Lab 1
Objectives
At the end of this lab, you will be able to create a Vendor, create an A/P Vendor’s Invoice and post it.
Before you begin
You will need to be logged onto DealerVu and be on the home page.
Exercise 1
In this exercise, you will learn how to create a Vendor, create an A/P Vendor’s Invoice and post it.
On the home page, select System Settings:
- From the System Settings screen, select the Vendor link, then select General Info;
- On the Vendor screen, click on the New Vendor Icon

- This will bring up the Vendor Detail Screen. Enter 'UPS' in the Vendor Code field;
- Enter “UPS Delivery Co.” in the Vendor Name field;
- Select a Vendor Type “Service Provider”, Warranty Price Level, Tax Group and Term, and enter the address and any other information about the Vendor;
- In the Accounts Section, assign this Vendor with a Payable Account as well as a Vendor Invoice Misc. Items Account;
- Click the Save Icon.
Exercise 2
In this exercise you will learn how to create a new A/P Vendors Invoice and Post it to the G/L.
- On the DealerVu home page, select the Accounting link, then Accounts Payable;
- On the Payable Transactions screen, click on the AP Vendor Invoice Icon;
- This will bring up the Select Vendor screen. Enter the Vendor name you created from Exercise 1 in the Vendor field. Note: Make sure there is a check mark next to Service Provider. Click Refresh;
- Select the Vendor by double-clicking on it. This will add the Vendor to the Invoice;
- On the Vendor Invoice, enter an Invoice Number in the Invoice number field;
- Click on the Insert Misc. Item Icon;
- In the Description field of the Misc. Item line, enter what the entry is for (for example, Delivery Service Charges). NOTE: The G/L Account showing on the Misc. Line comes from the Vendor Account setup from Exercise 1;
- Enter the Amount of the Invoice before applied taxes in the amount field on the Misc. line;
- Select an Invoice Date, a Due Date and a Posted On Date;
- Use the drop down list in the status field and change the invoice status to Posted;
- Click the Save Icon.
